Privacy policy
This page describes exactly what the PTT Talkie app and website handle, why each item exists, and how long it is kept. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
The short version
There is no account
We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number, and there is nothing to sign in to.
We never read your contacts
The app does not request the contacts permission and never uploads an address book.
Voice is kept for 24 hours
Voice segments stay on the server for 24 hours so members who were offline can catch up, then they are deleted automatically.
No advertising or analytics SDKs
Neither the app nor this website includes tracking, advertising or analytics libraries, and this website loads no external resources at all.
What is handled and why
Microphone audio
Captured only while you are holding the talk button or holding the volume-up key. The audio is encoded and sent to the other members of your channel. It is not analysed for advertising and is not used to train anything.
Device identifier
A random value generated on your device the first time the app runs. It lets the server tell members apart and hold your place in a channel. It is not derived from a hardware serial number, an advertising identifier or your phone number, and it is not linked to your identity. Clearing the app data or reinstalling creates a new one.
Nickname
The label you type when joining a channel. It is shown to the other members of that channel and is not used anywhere else.
Channel number and password
The channel number tells the server which room you mean. If the channel has a password, it is checked by the server so that only people who know it can join.
Voice and message history on your device
Received voice and the list of messages are stored in the app's own storage so you can replay them and see what you missed. This stays on your device and is removed when you clear the app data or uninstall it.
Connection information
The server processes the network address your connection arrives from in order to deliver voice to you and to keep the channel working. It is operational data, not a profile.
This website
The site is served as static files. It sets no cookies, loads no external fonts, scripts or images, and includes no analytics. Your hosting provider processes ordinary access logs for security and reliability.
How long things are kept
Voice on the server
Twenty-four hours from the moment it is sent, so that members who were offline can still hear it. After that it is deleted automatically.
Voice on your device
Until you clear the app data or uninstall the app. You are in control of this copy.
Device identifier
For as long as the app is installed with its data intact, because the server needs it to recognise your installation.
Channel records
A channel and its membership exist while the channel is in use and are removed when it becomes empty.
What you can decide
Leaving a channel
When you leave a channel deliberately, the app records that choice locally and will not put you back in the background. Being reachable is always your decision.
Clearing your data
Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes the local history and the device identifier. The next installation starts fresh with a new identifier.
Microphone permission
You can withdraw it in Android settings. The app will no longer be able to capture voice, so talking will not work, but nothing else changes.
Asking us a question
If you want to know what is held about your installation, write to the privacy contact and describe the channel and approximate time you are asking about.
Who to ask

Changes to this policy
If the way the product handles data changes, this page is updated and the change is noted in the changelog of the website so the date is visible.
