Push-to-talk app

Push-to-talk that works like a radio, not a messenger

Hold one button, speak, release, and everyone on the channel hears you live. No dialling, no ringing, no voice message waiting to be opened.

Push-to-talk vs. the alternatives

The same sentence, three very different waits

The difference between push-to-talk and a messenger is not audio quality. It is the number of steps between speaking and being heard.

PTT Talkie

1Hold the button and speak
2Release: the channel hears you live
3Someone answers in the same second

Voice messages

1Record the message
2Wait for it to upload
3Wait for them to notice and open it

A phone call

1Dial the number
2Wait for it to ring
3Wait for them to pick up
What you actually get

Built for a channel you leave open all day

A six-digit channel instead of an invitation

There is no account and no contact list. Everyone types the same six-digit number and a nickname and they are in the same room. Adding a colleague at another site takes one number, not an installation ceremony.

You can see who is listening before you speak

Every member shows as online, listening or offline, so you know whether the person you need is at their phone before you say something that matters.

Voice you missed is kept, in order

Walk into a basement, drive through a tunnel or leave the phone in the van: the channel keeps what you missed and plays it back when the connection returns. Nobody has to repeat themselves.

It stays connected on a weak network

If the link drops, the app notices before you do and reconnects on its own. A server update does not push you out of the channel.

Capabilities

What the app does, in four lines

Nothing here needs an account, a subscription or a Google account.

1
Talk with the screen locked

Press the button on screen, or hold volume-up for about a second. Your voice leaves immediately, even with the phone in your pocket.

2
Know who is on the channel

Online, listening or offline: the state of every member is visible at a glance, so you are not talking into an empty room.

3
Reconnects by itself

After a tunnel, a lift or a dead spot, the app re-establishes the channel without you touching anything.

4
6.8 MB, no Google Play services

The APK is small and installs on Android 7.0 and above, including phones without Google services.

Where a push-to-talk app fits

One app, several kinds of shift work

Anywhere a group has to speak now rather than compose a message.

Construction sites

Crews spread over several floors or a whole plot, talking without stopping work to find a quiet corner.

Security and patrols

A patrol reports in without taking a hand off the phone, and the control room sees who is on shift.

Logistics and warehouses

Loaders, drivers and the gate stay on one channel for the whole shift instead of swapping phone calls.

Events and stadiums

Stewards, stage crews and gates coordinate in the seconds where it actually matters.

Outdoor and travel

Convoys, hiking groups and motorcycle rides, where a phone call would be impossible or unsafe.

Small teams at a distance

Any group that needs to speak to everyone at once rather than send six separate messages.

Questions people ask before installing

The short answers. The full ones are in the FAQ.

Is PTT Talkie free?

Yes. The app is free, there is no subscription and no advertising. It is published as a direct APK from this website.

Do I need an account or a phone number?

No. There is no sign-up, no e-mail and no phone number. You choose a nickname and a six-digit channel, and your contact list is never uploaded.

Does it work over Wi-Fi as well as mobile data?

Yes. Any working internet connection will do. The app reconnects by itself when you move between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

Can I talk with the screen locked?

Yes. A one-second hold of the volume-up key talks with the phone in your pocket, and incoming voice keeps playing with the screen off.

How many people can be on one channel?

A channel is built for a working team rather than a broadcast audience. Everyone who has the same six-digit number is in the same conversation.

Do I need Google Play services?

No. PTT Talkie installs as an ordinary APK on Android 7.0 and above and does not depend on Google Play services.

Is my voice stored on a server?

Voice is relayed live. A copy of each clip is kept for up to 24 hours so that members who lost connection can catch up, and it is deleted afterwards. The privacy model has the full detail.

Install it in about thirty seconds

Download the 6.8 MB APK, type a six-digit channel, hold the button and talk.
